Cherno alhpa died for this.
I do wonder how they'll justify having the Jaeger program still being active after the rift is closed
Where are they getting entire squadrons of jaegers? In the first movie the biggest nations in the world spent years worth of defense budgets on every single jaeger. How can they just shit them out now?
Boyega is supposed to be Pentecost's son
no del Toro
You can tell from the first one how much love and passion he put into it, from everything from the sets and lighting to the actual way the robots move. This sequel is a cash grab without any of that love, the robots move and look like Ironman suits just scaled up in CGI.
Steven DeKnight is the creator and head writer of Spartacus for Starz
I'm hoping for over the top levels of cheesy fun, but not with Del Toro's level of reverence for the material.
Good to see them making more use of swords this time around.
No Ron pearlman
- Aw, c'mon. You can't tell me he was too expensive.
Trailer music was shit.
Also the mechs don't have enough weight to them. Del Torro's direction is sorely missed.
Also why is the protagonist Pentacost's son? That's stupid.
In general, I fear like they just put Pacific Rim through the Hollywood executive meat grinder and this is what came out.
I might watch it, but my expectations are pretty low right now.
Reminder that the original cockpits were full sized sets built on hydraulics so that they could move around.
I don't mind most of the things on the new trailer, new robots, new kaijus, new people, etc, i rather have those unique looks that the other jaegers had, and those pilot suits are terrible, but whatever, at the beginning i didn't like any of the original jaegers designs until the first trailer was released
now, the only thing i believe is hideous is the camera work, I mean, just look at the scene where the kaiju roars and destroys the glass in all buildings, or the scene where all jaegers deploy their weapons at once, int he first movie the robots and kaijus looked massive because the camera was slowly moving or just static, simulating a person really watching something very big happening, like those people filming a tornado, you have to stay far away and still to tape the whole thing, you can also see that same camera work on that 2014 godzilla movie
on those scenes it just look like a video game and somehow the super fast camera jumping all over the place makes the city and robots and everything else look smaller.
It's the same reason why Ghost in the shell did so poorly compared to it's animated predecessor.
If there is an issue with those designs, it's that they are too much of a copy pasta of Gipsy Danger and the other Jaeger of the previous movie. The first movie had unique design for each Jaeger, the second one is more like "remember the cool designs of the first movie? Well here is more design like this"
